After experiencing a few hiccups,1 the latest volume of the Journal of Vampire Studies (JVS) will be released on December 29, 2024.

The title is available for pre-order from online retailers including Booktopia, Saxo and Barnes & Noble.

One of the biggest challenges facing its publication was the editorial transition to the eighteenth edition of The Chicago Manual of Style.2

As noted in the latest JVS editorial:

I had no idea it was even coming out, only noticing it while looking up other content on the University of Chicago Press website. For perspective, the previous edition was released seven years ago, and I’ve been using it before the journal even existed.

To make matters more complicated, the book wasn’t available to Australian buyers (at least though Amazon.com.au) until November 25. I pre-ordered a copy of the book and signed up for a 30-day free trial of CMOS Online (https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/home.html) in the interim. Despite being projected for delivery on December 11, the book arrived—I kid you not—on the same day my trial expired.3

The volume will continue to roll out across various online retailers in the coming weeks. Readers may wish to track its availability through aggregate sites like Booko or AddALL.
