To facilitate processing membership applications more quickly, a new process will occur. Rather than waiting for membership fees to be “received and transferred into our account” and “successfully transferred,”1 membership will commence once payment has been received.2 Notifications of payments received are sent to me via SMS. I have triple-checked our rules and this process does not violate them.3 I have updated our membership page to reflect this update to the process.

The usual process was to receive it, sign in and then transfer it to our bank account. That process could take three to five days even if done immediately. It can take longer if I am too busy to log in, initiate the process and then sign into bank account too to check. If payments are received at around the same time and then transferred, it can be difficult to unravel who-paid-what-on-what-date.

The original process was put in place to safeguard against retracting payment before it was deposited. The simple solution to that, however, is simple: withdrawing membership in response to unpaid fees.
